This year I don't think I'll be able to feed them before because of other activities, and my husband and I are going out to dinner after the picnic, so I am looking for something just for the kids.
We share recipes and ask and answer questions from “How do you feed your family at night when you don’t walk in the door until 5:30 and you have a soccer game at 6 and piano lessons at 6:15 ... on opposite ends of town?” to “What’s your Thanksgiving menu this year?” to “Remember that punch you made at Christmas? What was the recipe?” So come on in to our virtual dinner group, pour yourself a glass of wine, and let’s start cooking together.

Picnic Food
My kids' school always does a back to school picnic, where you bring your own food. I have tried different things with varying success, including feeding them before we go, making something to bring, or grabbing a pizza on the way. Anyone have a great picnic dinner item that the kids can't resist or can eat on the run?
Toco's in a bag :) My m-I-L has done the meat in a crock pot to bring to picnics. Just keep it warm and have all the topping ready to go. I know all of your darlings liked it. My first thought was meatball/sausage wedges but I believe yours are not all fans.
ReplyDeleteThat is a good idea. It isn't really potluck. You just bring food for yourself and they give out water ice (sort of like Italian Ices). I always struggle with getting my kids to want to sit and eat rather than play. I wimped out and got them chick-fil-A between doctors visit and soccer practice and then let them just play and get their water ice at the picnic.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a plan that worked for all. Especially after your dr. appointments. Hope you and George had a great dinner. I need to feed mine tonight before meet the teacher - we have to be there 5:45 and there will be snacks.
