Father’s day is Sunday, June 20th. Let’s think of and share about our fathers ... and, of course, food.
1. Does your father cook? If so, what’s his specialty? What’s your favorite thing that he makes?
2. What’s your father’s favorite meal? Is this what you’ll be making him on Sunday?
3. What’s your funniest food-and-father story?
4. What’s your most tender food-and-father story?
Anyone else out there have questions?

1. My dad always cooked specific things ... Saturday morning pancakes, Sunday morning eggs & bacon (still does this when the grandkids are visiting, or when he's visiting them), chili, and most holiday meals (read: big productions, he likes the planning as much as the execution, I think).
ReplyDelete2. My father's favorites seem to change regularly. Lately he requested my Italian Peasant Soup recipe. But this weekend, giving the expected hot weather, we'll be doing ribs, cole slaw (I still use his recipe as the basis for mine), pasta salad, and [yellow] cake (no chocolate allowed).
3. I remember one morning after the cousins had slept over (and the parents and aunts and uncles had had a bash), we kids were making breakfast. Turned out the "orange juice" was manhattans.
4. I remember being about 10 years old and making vicchysoisse with my dad. He was a meat-and-potatoes guy, but he'd seen this recipe he thought looked interesting, so we tried it out. I think that's when my love of cooking new things was born.
