They immediately went on my Thanksgiving Prep menu. I like them best because they’re simple and quick, but also because they are perfect with any protein preparation, they have a little sauce if you serve them with a plain chicken, meat, or fish, but they are simple enough if you serve them with a meat with a sauce or gravy.
Balsamic-Glazed Brussels Sprouts
2 lb Brussels sproutsPlace Brussels sprouts in a shallow pan with water and Balsamic vinegar. Bring to a boil and cover. Reduce heat to medium and cook 10 minutes. Remove lid and raise heat back up. Allow the water to boil away and the vinegar to reduce and glaze the Brussels sprouts, about 5 to 7 minutes. When the Brussels sprouts are glazed, to a sweet, rich brown color, add butter to the pan. Turn Brussels sprouts to coat lightly with butter. Season with salt and pepper and serve.
½ c water
½ c Balsamic vinegar
1 T butter
salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
How does one clean brussel sprouts. I usually buy them frozen. Do I remove any leaves or cut anything?
ReplyDeleteServed these tonight with Roast stuffed breast of lamb and roasted potatoes:) Yummy on a COLD, snow day! Thanks Kate!
ReplyDeleteSounds like 3 of us had the same meal: you, me (leg of lamb), and Regina, but I think she did mashed, rather than browned, potatoes. I even got my neighbors Lynne & Margaret to try lamb for the first time. Margaret did not like the lamb, but liked the mint jelly ("I'd put it on toast!") and Lynne liked the lamb, but wasn't interested in trying the mint jelly.
ReplyDeleteIt was great, but in truth, I could've made a meal of the potatoes and Brussels sprouts.
We did! At Holland's request, leg of lamb, mashed red potatoes and these fantastic brussel sprouts. Love them!
ReplyDeleteI did this recipe for the lamb. It had great flavor! Loved it! http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/40-a-day/roasted-lamb-recipe/index.html
I've never cooked lamb and the brussel sprouts didn't go over too well. I enjoyed them, after complaining for 10 min Erin really enjoyed them and asked for more. Molly was in tears about trying them. Oh well, we'll try again.
