I know Brendan will be mad at me for divulging this long-held family secret (and probably this picture), but I can’t find my copy of the recipe, and I’d like you all to tell me if my memory is correct.
Irish cream
4 eggsCombine in blender. Chill. Serve in a pretty bottle. Makes great gifts!
1 can sweetened condensed milk
1 c heavy cream
2 T chocolate syrup
2 t instant coffee
1 t pure vanilla extract
¼ t pure almond extract
¾ c Irish whiskey (I think the original recipe called for 1½ cups, but I usually use less)
I have 3 eggs in my recipe, and often use egg beaters so I don't have to worry about the raw egg thing. So delicious! Looking forward to having some this Christmas.:)
ReplyDeleteI also have 3 eggs. I just went to the store for the ingredients. I'm also trying your Amaretto. Wish me luck on that one, I'm a little worried about it.

About to make some for our neighbors.
ReplyDeleteWhere did you all get your bottles this year?
I had a little trouble.
I had lots of trouble getting the bottles this year. (None at Dollar stores, I did get a few at TJ Maxx) I don't give the recipe out, to keep it much requested gift! Oh Well!
ReplyDeleteI also had trouble. I just heard that Ikea has some nice bottles. I few neighbors are going to get then for New Year's this year. So I can run to Ikea on Monday. And I'm going to stock up for next year, too.
ReplyDeleteWhen I have cute vinegar or oil bottles through the year, I throw them on a shelf in the basement. I threw them in the dishwasher last night & will be delivering to neighbors before we leave tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteEileen, do not worry about the Amaretto. It is truly the easiest thing I have ever made!
I also use egg beaters. I used to buy my decorative bottles at Pier 1 but they no longer carry them. Now I go to our health food store. They have a beer and wine making section so I either by green wine bottles or the beer bottles that have the ceramic cap. Then we make labels to put on them. It's much easier and I can buy a case of them pretty cheap. I also have had friends return the bottle each year to insure they get a bottle the next year!!
