I was thinking of making it. The recipe I have calls for eggs whites. I don't have any egg beaters in the house. Would you make it with whites or would you hold off. I remember loving the frosting as a kid and thought Molly would have fun making it. (OK I promised her cupcakes and don't have any canned frosting or powdered sugar in the house.)

7 minute frosting

I always make it with egg whites. It's Grace's birthday cupcake frosting. Tall and fluffy cupcakes.
ReplyDeleteWish you were here ... Jude & I made 2 batches of butter cookies today & they use only the egg yolks. We have 6 extra egg whites sitting in the fridge.
ReplyDeleteI have 2 yolks in mine.
ReplyDeleteThe frosting didn't come out as well as I hoped. It tasted fine, and was fluffy but not too tall. I don't think I got full peeks while beating it (I did beat 10 min. can I over beat it? ) I added red food coloring, so it was pink, with sprinkles and the girls were happy.
Do you do it over a double boiler(http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/paula-deen/7-minute-frosting-recipe/index.html)
ReplyDeleteor add in the boiling water http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/paula-deen/7-minute-frosting-recipe/index.html?
