Pot Luck

Hi all,
I have a pot luck this week in between a pretty full week.  I am bringing a salad. I thought Katie's Classic Potato Salad. I'm also down for a dessert. I'd rather not do bars. I was thinking Chocolate Death, it's a group I haven't made it for yet but there will be lots of kids, its Girl Scouts.  Any favorite suggestions?  I usually try to make something I know Brad will eat, he can be a little picky and he likes to know there is at least one thing he'll like.

  1. Always love death by chocolate.

Also, love the ice cream/poundcake recipe I shared with you a few years ago. Slice a Sara Lee poundcake in 1/2 lengthwise, fill with any type of ice cream and refreeze. Before serving top with whipped cream. I often do this as the "non-chocolate" summer dessert of offering and do it with strawberry ice cream and fresh strawberries for my hubby.

The first time I had it was with moose tracks, which was awesome! And was actually at a GS potluck.;)

  2. "Dirt" is fun in a flower pot.

The warm potato and green bean salad is good for a warm weather pot luck because it's not mayo based, and it doesn't need to be served warm, room temp is great too.

And Eileen, this is from a parent at Evan's school, a recipe that teachers loved at the Teacher Appreciation Luncheon, it's right up Brad's alley:
    Chocolate-covered peanut butter crackersRitz crackers
    Peanut butter
Almond bark chocolate (by Plymouth Pantry, Walmart sells it in the baking aisle, looks like a giant thick Hershey's bar, one bar makes about 40 cookies)
    Sprinkles (optional)

Make peanut butter cracker sandwiches using as much peanut butter as you like between two Ritz crackers.
Melt chocolate either in the microwave or in a doubler boiler. Do not overcook chocolate.
Dip cracker sandwiches into chocolate, use a fork to remove and shake excess chocolate. Place on aluminum foil to set. (Add sprinkles while chocolate is still setting, if desired.)
    Enjoy!

  3. I just made S'mores like Kate's Fruit and Nut clusters. I melted the chocolates, then added mini marshmellows and golden graham cereal and dropped them by teaspoons onto waxed paper and chilled them. They were a BIG hit with kids and adults!
