What's for dinner this week?

I find that when I plan my meals and base my shopping list on them, my weeks is so much easier. So, I am trying to plan my menus for the week ahead. I am also trying to add lots of veggies to our meals, so after I shop and grab what looks good I'll let you know how I did.

Mondays are Religion days, so I feed the kids early and then G and I eat later. Most nights we all eat together and I try to do a combination of meals in the week of things George and I will enjoy, and some things the kids will enjoy. Tonight, I am going to do Turkey Meatball sliders. The kids have never been meatball wedge (hero, subs, whatever you call them) people, but I am thinking with smaller rolls they might get into it. Plus, I can keep the meatballs in the crockpot so they are ready for the kids, and still good when George and I are ready to eat.

Other than that, I am looking at Chicken picata or Tandoori chicken with spinach and rice, Lamb kebabs with sweet potatoes and butternut squash, eggplant and pasta, and I think I'm going to try those pizza bites I posted in an earlier post.

Would love to hear what you are all having.

  1. Look at my post A week of good meal ideas! That worked well. I forgot to add that I also did the sloppy Joe sliders from the Everyday Food, but felt they need more spice and the Pork Stir Fry. I like that magazine because it gives the grocery list and it's a one shop week:)

  2. Tonight we are trying the Pizza bites you suggested, some with turkey pepperoni, plain, mushrooms, or black olives. Tomorrow it's Corn Chowder with Ham, Salad and Asparagus, Wed: Penne ala Vodka, Broccoli and Salad, Thurs:Shephard's Pie wit Ground beef, and Friday is Spinach and Sausage Lasagna. I always try to plan the week on Sat or Sunday so we can shop ahead and be prepared. Some weeks work better than others. I also have a "go to" list, that has meals each have requested or that we haven't had in awhile. I check them off as we have them to try to vary it. Hope this helps. I always love others suggestions for meal ideas. What about doing cut Meatballs in a "roll up" (fajita or tortilla) for a different presentation.

  3. I'll have to try them. Sounds good.
We had Katie's chicken pot pie with the puff pastry on top tonight.
Tomorrow might be a leftover night, I have a bunch.
Once a week I do soup, this time of year, not sure yet what kind. We also usually have venison once a week, maybe steaks on the inside grill. I'm thinking with baked potatoes, since I didn't do mashed in the pot pie. That as far as I've gotten. It's going to be a cold week. So I don't want to run to the store. And I want to eat comfort food, maybe a stuffed pasta.
